Q2 Weather: Winter comes and goes this week

Posted: Updated:

Ups and downs ahead in the weather once again early this week.

Snow totals are fairly light Monday morning.  Even still, areas of drifting and snow covering icy patches will still affect travel.  Reduce speed and leave yourself room between vehicles.

As the system slides south this afternoon, expect nothing more than a flurry and a sky that will begin to clear.  Temperatures Monday afternoon will stay in the single digits.

Temperatures will be cold overnight with most readings sliding below zero.  The coldest readings will be in the river valleys, with wind chill values at -20 or colder early Tuesday.

As westerly winds increase Tuesday, temperatures leap to the mid-20s to mid-30s Tuesday afternoon with plenty of sun.

Another round of snow and colder air arrive by late Wednesday.

Billings forecast:

Monday…Cloudy with morning snow.  Then gradually clearing this afternoon.  Cold with a high near 4.

Monday night…Mostly clear with a temperature of about -5 for a low. Wind chill values around -20. Southwest winds increase overnight.

Tuesday…Sunny and about 35. Cold morning wind chill values.
