Big Bear in Great Falls begins 'going out of business' sale

GREAT FALLS - Big Bear Sporting Goods began its "going out of business" sale on Wednesday in Great Falls.

Last week, Chuck Mckenzie, the co-owner of Big Bear, confirmed that the Great Falls location has been sold and will close.

The store has been closed for the past two days to get prepared for the closing sale.

Customers came out in full force to check out the sale prices.

Some even said they waited in line for more than an hour to check out.

Mckenzie said that big bear has been open for more than 50 years in great falls, and the closure will be the "end of an era."

The fate of Billings-based Big Bear has been in question since the Billings store was severely damaged in a Nov. 4 police shootout. Store owners told employees earlier this month that they would close both the Billings and Great Falls stores.
