BILLINGS - School District 2 Superintendent Terry Bouck will look to fill the vacated seat by Democrat Rep. Kelly McCarthy in House District 49.
Bouck confirmed he will finish his tenure as superintendent and be "equitable and ethical" in the process. He is filing as a Democrat.
Bouck said he would speak further on entering the race on Tuesday.
McCarthy announced over the weekend he will be moving for his wife's job opportunity in Australia.
Meanwhile, mental healthcare professional Emma Kerr-Carpenter also filed Monday for the seat.
“I’m running for the Legislature because I’m a mental healthcare professional, and I had to watch last session as the services my clients and the most vulnerable Montanans rely on got absolutely gutted. And not because we couldn’t have found a way to support those services – but because we weren’t willing to think outside the box, and come up with solutions that work for everyone,” Kerr-Carpenter said in a statement.
“I want to make sure that doesn’t happen again,” she said.
