Injuries reported in Helena propane explosion

HELENA - Firefighters have been sent to a reported fire in the area of Lake Helena Drive and York Road.

Crews were dispatched just before 10:30 a.m. Pictures from the scene show flames shooting high into the air.

According to the Lewis and Clark County/City of Helena 911 Facebook page, the fire is the result of a propane explosion on the 3600 block of York Road. Officials say the incident involves in excess of 2,000 gallons of propane.

Residents in the area reported hearing and feeling an explosion that shook their home. One person in the subdivision said the explosion shook their home, while another said she saw a truck thrown into the air.

Officials say injuries have been reported. People are asked to avoid the area.
