Q2 Weather: This nice weather will stick around for a few more days in Billings

Posted: Updated:

BILLINGS - In weather circles, we would call Tuesday’s weather in Billings, "severe clear", and the temperature is room temperature.

And it seems that way all over the state, even over Glacier National Park, the skies are perfectly clear and the temperatures are getting close to 70 degrees.

The only issue we have is an isolated shower or thunderstorm coming in the southwest.

That threat is showing up on our thunderstorm outlook for Tuesday.

And here’s how that’s going to happen: We are seeing a little bit of energy in Eastern Idaho and Western Wyoming pop up around the mountains out there.

That, combined with the heat of the day, may be enough to get a couple of thunderstorms to develop over the mountains and move into Montana later Tuesday evening.

As far as the rivers are concerned, the Musselshell at Lavina is starting to recede and is forecast to go below flood stage on Wednesday.

All of Lewis and Clark County is still in a flood warning, because of snow melt and the possibility of additional showers or thunderstorms over the next day or two.

Most of the rivers out in the west remain either at flood stage or are forecast to go above flood stage this week also.

Our high resolution forecast model shows just a few spotty showers in northwestern Wyoming and southwestern Montana Tuesday afternoon, but those die out with the sunset.

A new low pressure cell will be moving into Idaho on Wednesday slinging more showers and thunderstorms Montana’s way by the end of the day on Wednesday.

Our temperatures will be rising through the 70s and flirting with the low 80s over the next two days.

BILLINGS FORECAST
