Q2 Weather: Excessive Heat Warning starts Friday

Posted: Updated:

Hot and dry conditions will dominate the weather through Saturday.

Expect plenty of sunshine, with temperatures close to record highs each afternoon. Highs will be mainly in the 90s Thursday, 90s to triple digits on Friday, and even more readings sliding above 100 on Saturday.

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning starting noon Friday and lasting through Saturday. Excessive heat will result in increased potential for heat related illnesses.

Avoid direct sunlight for extended periods, wear light-colored clothing and avoid strenuous activity in the hot temperatures. Make sure to drink plenty of water, and help the elderly, kids and pets stay cool.

With an increase in winds and a chance of dry lightning storms Saturday evening fire risk will increase.

Cooler conditions will move in early next week. However, Sunday afternoon could still have high fire risk with brisk winds and isolated dry thunderstorms.

Billings forecast:

Thursday… Sunny and hot with a high near 97. South breeze 5 to 10 mph.

Thursday night… Clear with a low of about 63.

Friday… Sunny and very hot with a high near 100. The record high temperature for the date is 102, set in 1935.
